Importance of Breath

BREATH is so important to our regulatory system. Along with food, sleep and safety, our breath lays the groundwork for our emotions.

Starting to integrate mindful breath work into our lives can feel scary for a lot of people. My biggest advice it to meet yourself where you are A lot of times with clients, I’ll just start by introducing ONE deep breath. That’s all. An inhale in and a long exhale out. It’s like a glass of cold water - even one sip feels refreshing Then we check in - how did that feel? Could you try another?

With time we might build to more structured breathing that can be integrated during the day. For example, a simple breath technique is the 5, 5, 5 method.

Repeat a few more times until you start to notice a little more settling in your body. Remember that breath work is an embodiment PRACTICE. Just like anything else, it takes time to build confidence in the skill

A reminder to you is that no matter what, you always have your breath 🧘‍♂️ Start where you are. It only takes an inhale...
